Basic Social Media Words

كلمات أساسية لوسائل التواصل

Here are the most important words: "post" (something you share), "like" (to show you enjoy something), "comment" (to write a reply), "share" (to send to others), and "follow" (to see someone's posts).

إليك أهمّ الكلمات: "post" (شيء تشاركه) و"like" (لتُظهر أنّك تستمتع بشيء) و"comment" (لكتابة ردّ) و"share" (لإرساله للآخرين) و"follow" (لمشاهدة منشورات شخص).

More useful words: "feed" (the list of posts you see), "story" (a short post that disappears after 24 hours), "reel" (a short video), "DM" (direct message — a private message), and "hashtag" (the # symbol before a word).

People on social media write fast, so they use short forms. "LOL" means "laughing out loud." "BRB" means "be right back." "IMO" means "in my opinion." "TBH" means "to be honest."

الناس على وسائل التواصل يكتبون بسرعة، لذلك يستخدمون أشكالًا مختصرة. "LOL" تعني "أضحك بصوت عالٍ." "BRB" تعني "سأعود حالًا." "IMO" تعني "في رأيي." "TBH" تعني "بصراحة."

Other common ones: "DM me" (send me a private message), "FYI" (for your information), and "ASAP" (as soon as possible). These short forms are also used in English emails sometimes.

How to Write a Simple Post

Keep your posts short and simple. You can write about your day: "Beautiful morning in Riyadh" or "Just finished a great book." Use hashtags to help people find your post: #LearnEnglish #MyDay.
